Rakshak is a transformative project I developed with the mission of empowering domestic workers in India by providing them with financial security and benefits. Collaborating with Himayat, an award-winning for-profit social enterprise, and local staffing agencies, I conceptualized and launched Rakshak, an insurance and benefits package tailored to the unique needs of millions of informal sector workers. The name "Rakshak," meaning protector in Hindi, encapsulates the core mission of the project—ensuring financial security and safeguarding workers' livelihoods. I worked closely with leading fintech and insurtech startups, as well as Better Capital, to curate and implement a suite of solutions that included insurance, savings plans, and skilling programs. This initiative not only helped bridge the gap between traditional benefits systems and informal workers but also provided valuable insights into the intersection of technology, finance, and social entrepreneurship. Through Rakshak, I aimed to create a meaningful impact by ensuring long-term financial security and dignity for domestic workers, empowering them to improve their quality of life.
